Generalist AI Engineer (Ghent, BE)
Context
Datameister is an AI research and deployment lab specializing in visual and spatial intelligence. We are a haven for deep-tech engineers who crave the intellectual challenges of academia but want the tangible impact of a high-growth startup. We are a 17-person team that is proud to be self-funded, profitable, and completely autonomous.
Over the last few years, we have built extensive experience in general intelligence and video/3D-specific AI capabilities. We have compounded all this expertise into a unified 3D AI engine and a robust, cost-efficient MLOps platform that powers various client products and critical production systems through custom APIs.
Founded in 2023, we have evolved from a group of hustling engineers into a well-oiled machine. We are now entering a transformative phase: shifting our focus from a project-driven model to building scalable, product-centered solutions in high-impact verticals.
Your role
While our roots are in computer vision, 3D generative models, and video analytics, we recognize that ‘Intelligence’ requires a multi-modal approach. We are now focused on further solidifying, and scaling these general intelligence technologies to a production-grade level and are seeking new team members to help us achieve this goal.
We are looking for an AI engineer to strengthen our general intelligence stack, with a strong focus on fine-tuning, extending, and modifying model architectures. This includes hands-on work on agentic workflows, LLMs, data engineering, and broader ML models at a fundamental level.
Key Qualifications:
Master’s degree (or equivalent experience) in Computer Science, AI, or related fields.
Currently authorized to work in Belgium (we are unable to provide visa sponsorship) and able to join the team on-site in Ghent twice weekly to foster collaboration.

Experience with current AI/LLM frameworks and tools.
Proficient programming skills in Python.
(Optional) experience with cloud platforms and deployment strategies.
